Hitting Pan on Boring: The Intern’s Reflections on Embracing Individuality

Hitting Pan on Boring: The Intern’s Reflections on Embracing Individuality

Lauren and I (#OGBFFintern) recently went through Pinterest to find some photos in the OGBFF color scheme (mint and pink). As I scrolled through images of girls in perfect summer outfits and bright colors, I was influenced enough to start hunting for a pair of neon pink ballet flats (a successful Poshmark endeavor).

After my purchase, I realized that Lauren has a particular gift for predicting what styles, colors, shapes, etc., will work together. She’s basically a graphic-fashion clairvoyant. Notably, instead of repeating what has already been done, OGBFF celebrates individuality (in a super cute and fun way).

It’s one of the things that I love about OGBFF – each item is unique. If you walk into a room wearing a shirt that says “God Complex” in neon pink font, you will likely be the only one with that shirt on. Most importantly, OGBFF reminds us that it’s good to stand out. It’s easy to go down the rabbit hole of coined internet aesthetics (I’m thinking about “clean-girl” here), but isn’t it so much more fun to be different? Yes, simply put.

The best part about embracing your individuality and standing out is that it will usually lead you to some fun conversations. Personally, I would totally go up to the girl in the God Complex shirt because I would just have to know more about her. So let’s all put on our neon shirts and stick out like sore thumbs (because it’s really fun and cool).
